Roosevelt Tunnel & Bike Path Need Cleanup After Windstorm
A windstorm swept masses of sand into the Roosevelt Tunnel on March 13.
Sand also coated the bike lanes of Will Rogers Beach, which is a common, but dangerous occurrence, Boca resident Sharon Kilbride said.
A similar wind event happened two weeks previously, and the Boca Neighborhood Association footed the bill for clean up, she noted.
“Clearing the sand from the Roosevelt tunnel is very costly for our HOA who pay unhoused individuals to clear and clean them.” Kilbride said.
Kilbride has written to local officials about the problem, and she asks that community members who use the tunnels point their phones at the Venmo links on the signs above the tunnel entrance. If people donate $1 or $2 periodically, the cleaning expense would be easier to fund, she said.
